Too Good a Story to Wait

So, I was going to wait until I had photos to post at all, but I just can't wait. I mild preamble is required before I can share the meat of my story.
Mostly the events of yesterday: I first began at My Pad where I was planning on getting the keys to my house, and they seemed very flustered about my scheduled appearance, said the place is not ready and I was asked to return the next day at 4 pm. So then I stopped at the bank to open an account, to find I couldn't do so without a house, and then walked downtown to get a cell phone which I could not do without a bank. Needless to say yesterday was fruitless at best, but I did get to see a bunch of the city and began to love it.
So, now that the preamble is complete, I shall fast forward to 4 o'clock today. I arrive at My Pad and the landlord is very nice and we set up everything sign the lease etc. It went smoothly. Until he realized the keys were gone and the cleaners had them still.
So, with 10 minutes to wait, we got to chatting and this is the story he told me. "You emailed with us about your arrival date. In that time I was in Spain and left all this in the hands of my partner. In this time a tenant of his' water boiler broke and they've been without hot water and my partner shared my property key, your 3 Mayfair key, so they could shower. We are getting the keys from them today but the house is clean and if I have to stay up all night to get those other keys I will."
So, in the 10 minutes we waited for the cleaners hoards of people entered in waves with different problems, and so I waited on the couch to watch.
Two of the arrivals were unrelated but with other general issues. Then one man entered to discuss the issue of his water heater. Lo, just the man he'd been looking for. The landlord asked for the key, only to be informed "I don't have it, my friend is using the shower." The landlord did not look pleased, and said "I just had it cleaned"
Enter the partner, followed by a bunch of other students who had just looked at another house, trailed closely by another woman with another issue. This small building was getting fairly cramped. And I was having a hard time not laughing. The landlord is trying to convince this other man to give up the keys and found mostly unhappiness since there is still cold water. And then only to hear that their boiler is still out until Monday. He turns to his partner "You cocked this up you need to fix this." My favorite sentence yet.
And here I am smirking on the couch in all this mayhem. The other people were the partners tenants and so he broke off to deal with them, and said "Don't worry, he'll be with you in a moment."
I trying to keep a straight face say "No problem."
The cleaner arrives and drops off his set of keys to the woman in the middle of this crazy place and offers up the 3 Mayfair keys he has to the lovely assistant, completely unnoticed by the others in the room, the two landlords being very caught up in other matters.
A few moments later the landlord comes up and says "Get the gist of that?" I said yes, he says "Come with me, dear."
So me, the landlord, and the broken-boiler-man get into the landlords car and head out to track down the friend with the keys. They start at his flat. I, sitting in the car, finally allow myself a good guffaw. They return, alone, the flat was empty.
So they return to the car and I am informed "Well, I am sorry to say, someone may currently be in your shower." I laugh and assure him it's alright.
On the way to the flat the broken-boiler-man cries "Oh, that's him!" and they yell at him from the car, and we pull over so they can all chat on the street, ending with the set of keys in the landlords hands and then we move on to view 3 Mayfair.
I could not help by be amused the whole time, what a "cock up" indeed. I love it. But the house is lovely, I really like it. And, photos will come later tonight. It is a very nice place and I'm so happy with it. I can't wait. And it even is furnished which surprised me because it wasn't supposed to be and the landlord put in a bed today, so it only wants for food and bedding really. So, after all this, aside from the landlord himself coming the clean out my bathroom sometime tonight the house is mine.
And oh so worth it. I love it really, and I'm excited to move some stuff there tonight. And tomorrow, will probably resume not having internet, until a few days from now at least. So I will use my internet time tonight for posting those photos I promised.
So, that is day 3 of Hull, and the tales of travel and the early part of today can wait for tonight.
